Advice for scanning books and what to do with them afterwards?

I finally paid for a copy of a really expensive (for me) voice science textbook that I haven’t been able to find anywhere online. This book is full of information that is super helpful and I want to make sure that this information is available to anyone who wants it.

I have an app on my phone, Adobe Reader that can get really good quality scans, but it’s really hard to get a steady picture without either distorting the page or having my finger in it. I’m beginning to think my only option is to destroy the book and separate the pages, but I’d like to avoid doing that if possible. Do any of you have advice for scanning textbooks?

Beyond that, once I have it all scanned, where can I donate the PDF?
